Skill Checks

***Make up and check answers to your own questions***

  • Self differentiating...

  • Self-marking...

  • Pupils in charge of their own learning...

  • In-class teaching and homework activities...

Think of a page of examples on a particular topic.

Now imagine that it is electronic so that you can check each example as you go along and be told whether it is right or wrong but not be given the correct answer. If you have got it wrong you can then try it again, but the computer records your wrong attempts so the teacher can see how you did.

Now imagine that you can make up your own examples at your own level on whatever topic the teacher wants you to practise and have the computer check them to see if you are right.

Welcome to the Maths Investigations skill checks!

With just a ten minute introduction, you can be up and running with your pupils all practising the same skill, but each at their own level of challenge.

There's a huge range of skill checks, covering everything from consolidating multiplication tables to finding percentages of things, with lots of different options and variations to suit every age and stage.

The online materials work beautifully on an interactive board or tablet and can also be used on any (PC or Mac) desktop or laptop.

There are too many skill checks for them to be listed individually, but the link below will take you to the index, where you can browse to see the range of options available.
